Opinions on Merchant Services

I'm looking into setting up a merchant account so that I may process credit cards online and through my website.

So far I've looked into authorizenet (the small biz i work for uses them) - but I dont know where else to look..

Who do you use?

Good/Bad - Advantages/disadvantages... let me know!

Thanks

Hey,
I'm in the same process as you are, but I've already done ALOT of research for setting up online stores and I have everything planned out. I'm about to execute my plans and so you can pm me if you would like a brain dump.

paypal/bad cause it scares away customers
2checkout.com/similar to paypal, but 5.5%
chronopay.com/I think you have to be based in europe
authorize.net/great, but 40/month, this is what i'm going to use
Hope that helps.

i have no idea were most of you get your info. Authorize.net is one of the largest and most trustable merchant services you can get. Get it through charge.com and its really not that much. You have to pay a little money to make money, remember that. No setup fee or anything with charge.com, i think you can afford that.

of course i know i have to spend money to make money - but considereing the business i am starting - 300 dollars is a huge chunk of change.. ive only already invested 1,000 bucks and am almost done.

so right there is 1/3 of my startup costs for a business just for a merchant.. im just asking opinions..

im not trying to be cheap.

Sorry for quoting that three times. (not sure how that happened)...but there is no 300 set up fee. Like i said....not sure how you are getting your info. Authorize.net is just a reseller so you cant get it direct from them. Go thru www.charge.com like i said. There is no set up fees. One of the cheapest and best around.

May i ask what kinda of store you will be opening?
