Are you under particular pressure to use ASP/ASP.NET over PHP?

I've looked around for quite some time for a good inexpensive solution for e-commerce implemented in .NET. The reason I needed opensource was because I needed access to the source code for customization. I still have not found anything worth using. Most of whats out there is very awkward. Many of the solid products seem to be implemented in PHP.

Lightbulb

Yes i can say that i've noticed the same thing as well. It seems as though while there are some upsides to ASP and ASP.NET framework the bulk of e-commerce business is being handled by PHP framework simply because its light and cheap and for the most part free.

ASP and ASP.NET will probably play a bigger role in working with brick-and-mortor companies because it interfaces well with windows platforms which have a sizable hold in traditional business already.
