I haven't heard about an AIM policy change, but that'd be great...

Eric, it turned out to be that the AIM thing was an Internet rumor. The policy states that they own the rights public services, such as chat rooms and messageboards.
The policy does not refer to private conversations between people, even private chat rooms.
They own the right to chat rooms initiated by AOL/AIM but not privately started rooms on AIM.
So, don't worry about AOL bothering you.

I think maybe you should consider IRC. If you want something stable where you can set things up, IRC allows you to use bots and scripts to help maintaion your channels. Don't use efnet, because they don't run services, dalnet is too crowded.
People can register their nicks, you can register the channel, maintain operator status to moderate it, set topics, bots can store messages for people, etc. AIM and all other chatters wre built around IRC. BitchX might run services, check their website, bitchx.dimension6.com I think. (I should probably know these addresses, I only have like 12 t-shirts with the addeys on em.. heh)
If anyone has a good dedicated cable connection on a linux box I can set up an IRCd with services on it and you could run it from there, then it's a nice private network. Did I mention bots can play hangman, poker, and acrophobia too?

Yeah true, IRC is a better idea as you can control everything on tha channel with bots, OP and much more. We should make up a channel on irc.dalnet and just go.

don't use dalnet, it's too crowded. Use one of the smaller networks. Any network running services, especially the unreal ircd is good to go.
In case anyone sees that and wonders why, usually when irc networks get real big it's because they get amassive influx of 13 year old script kiddies, which turns out to be a headache.
If you start a room, You should make it +m and then autovoice after like 60 seconds. I don't have a shell account right now but if you need a bot I can get some in there for ya.
BTW, anyone not familiar with IRC, if you need a client, you can go to www.klient.com, www.bitchx.org (linux/unix), www.mirc.com and a few others to grab a client. I like klient, personally on windows and bitchx for linux.
