Is it wise to start a hosting company up
Is it a good idea to get a hosting company up and running, beacuse its a really hard market to break into. my hosting site is www.mattbuei.dedicatednet.co.uk. the site looks professional buh its just getting customers i been doing it for about a year now and im just not getting enough to make a good income on.
Do you suggest i start into other markets as well?

I would say no to anyone that wants to start up a hosting company. The market is way to saturated to actually earn anything from it at this point.

Your prices are unrealistic and ridiculous, no one will believe you can make a profit from $0.50/pm for 1gb space and 20gb bandwidth. Plus there is no such thing as unlimited space /bandwidth.
If you were going to do this properly you would have done it right.
Just out of curiousity how old are you? my guess is 14 (if your not dont take offense)

How do you expect to make money with such low prices? Why don't you just start a free hosting website if you don't feel like making money. You'll get more people to join you that way.
I don't think starting a web hosting company was the best decision. However, if you want to stick with your company then you'll need to raise your prices to make money. Give your customers a reason to pay extra money for something that they can get for a lower price.

Actually, I have a free hosting site for tech sites only which gives free email, mysql database, 100MB of space, and I still have a hard time finding people. Most want to store there junk on my box instead of put up sites.
As for getting into hosting. NO. Getting into hosting is about like getting into the computer hardware market right now. Your probably better of making another get rich quick adsense book and getting an infomercial. Although it would be better, please don't.

I know this guy who ran a pretty successful free hosting site. He set up a forum where users had to post a certain number of times to get free hosting. If they posted a lot, they would get a free domain. The forum had ads on it and it was enough to cover the expenses.
You could try that. But I would recommend quitting while you're ahead and finding something else to do.

If you want your hosting service to work- Make it Look better! sure, the front page looks alright, but what about the rest of the links. Why should I want a website created by someone that can't make their own?
Also, change your domain name to a .com instead of the long subdomain you have now... Just a suggestion!

Yeh, im getting a domain soon, the reason why the hosting sites so cheap is because i don't pay anything for the stuff, its all free to me, so any money is a profit, before i was selling hosting
one time payment for 15.00GBP
unmasked bandwidth/space
unlimited emails
unlimited parked somains/subdomins etc etc
everything you can emagin.
SSL (shell access) so people can start selling radios from cast control
i was offering more than any one i seen for the money.
i made about 250.00GBP from this and selling other things along with it such as a script worth 120.00USD (real estate)
well i think i should start selling that package again, its open if any one wants it lol.

I used to be the co-owner of a very large webhosting company called Liquid2k, Inc. We ran www.liquid2k.com and had over 1.2 million registered hosting members. I can tell you this is a very hard business to run, as you probably are already aware of. There are tens of thousands, if not more, of paid webhosting companies. The thing is, when you have companies that offer 7 gigs of web space, unlimited email, mysql databases, and 100GB of transfer each month for $15 dollars or less, it is almost impossible for someone else to beat that, unless you have a lot of investors.
If you honestly want to start a webhosting company, you would be much better off running a free webhosting company. Just watch out. We were located in NYC, and shut down because of September 11th, 2001.
It is still possible though.
I wish you luck!
