I知 a beginner, need some help!
I wish to start making money online. Just enough to pay a few bills etc. Is this asking too much? At present I am unsure which area to go into. Affiliate marketing looks possible. But there are so many e-books/courses I do not know here to start.
Therefore, I have decided to ask for advice from other members. What are the pitfalls or the chances of being sold a dud product or course. Can you recommend any products?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

well...that's the problem
I can't recommend you anything because I don't know a single entrepreneur who's made a living from affiliate marketing
don't get me wrong, I know a lot of entrepreneurs who market other people's product/services on the internet.....but most of the guys are earning like less than $1 an hour doing this stuff
seriously, if I knew at least 1 person who enjoys a higher hourly rate doing this stuff, as opposed to a normal partime job - I'd be the first to tell you

A lot of people are making moeny online as digital product affilaites.
Rosiland Gardner for one banks $400,000+ in a year by affiliate marketing.
Brooklyn...
Your first step is to define what product you want to sell, for example, if its a PC security product then PC security is your niche.
Now you need to build a trageted list of people that are interested in learning more about PC security. Possibly giving them a free trial to your affiliating software, giving a consumer guide about PC security and which products are the best.
Gain there trust as subscirbers and allow them to beleive you are the expert in PC security.
Once you have developed this relationship, you now direct market to them, as you now have their information, email, address, etc...
You promote the affilaite product.
If you build a list of 1,000, I gurantee you will make 30-50 sales, which will prob bring in revenues between. $900-$1500
Not super high, but its a nice side income..
Super Affilate Marketers liek Rosiland Gardner due this for 20+ products, they also have alrger lists, in the 10,000's
Do some research on list building?
Do some research on successful affilate marketers
Rosiland Gardner
Mike Filsamie
Russel Bruson
Let me know what you think.

does anyone have a remuneration survey report for affiliate marketers?
e.g. here's a report on how much lawyers make. it's distribution based. In other words, it tells the average and the median income for the profession as a whole. likewise, you can identify the outliers and their frequency.
What about affiliate marketing? How many people are doing it and what's the mean and median incomes?
I'm guessing that similarly to MLM, over 90% of affiliate marketers are on < $1 an hour
am I wrong? Is there proof beyond "A lot of people are making moeny online"?

I read somewhere, I don't remember where, that 10% of the total internet marketers are making 90% of the total internet marketing revenues. I would assume that these are the so-called "Gurus and Gods". I know I am definately not in that top 10%, but, I make enough on the side with my few programs to pay the household monthlys, so I can't complain. I still hold a full-time job, and the extra income allows me to save for retirement, pay for college funds, and a few toys for me. I plan on doing alot more sites, because I know it can work. It just takes time.

it's a valid observation
the guys making money in affiliate marketing, are the guys who tell others how to make money in affiliate marketing
anyway, anyone got a report on this space?

Yeh Daniel is right. In terms of risk v reward, cost v benefit, there's no real reason to go into this sort of thing at all.
Bcl.com.au is a site that is making money from affiliate marketing. The people making money are the exceptions, not the rules. Like Daniel said, just get a normal job, your chances of making money doing that over affiliate marketing are much much higher.

Akula and others...
Those guys telling others how to make moeny in affilate marketing, are making money in "Internet Marketing" in a certain niche, to separate types of marketing.
Face it, there are people making moeny with affiliate marketing, and i'm not going to lie and say its 10% of the 90% marketing crew, but I have made money by affilaite marketing, I have met 100s of people at seminars who have done the same.
It is a business jsut like everything else, you need training, and creativity, It is not MLM. Its simply selling others products.
How can the owners of these products get rich without affilaites.
How can someone be at the top spots in clickbank.com, commissionjunction.com, paydotcom.com and other affiliate networks, simply because they have a lot of affilaites, and those lot of affilaites are bringing in a lot of sales.
It is probably not the smartest business to go into, but neithier is dreaming of getting $1.5 billion dollars for your internet website. Or making the next Million Dollar Homepage.
At least with affilaite marketing, the kid could so some studies read some books, and make some sales, and see the money within a month.
Rant Over

Seeing as to how many millions of people have ventured into online businesses, affiliate marketing included, I think they're pretty serious here when they advise you to get a job. Honestly? I would, too. Practicality. It'll take months of hard work to be successful online these days.
