Hi Guys,
Can someone please PM me if you have had experience with using Google checkout as your shopping cart.
I am purley service, no inventory etc, and want to get:
A. an overview or do's/don'ts of E-commerce accounting
B. Know if I can integrate Google Checkout with my Peachtree (sage) Accounting software.
Thanks!!

Sorry to dig up an old thread. GuyBBY I am wondering if you have heard any feedback from your clients concerning the fact that Google checkout requires them to set up an account to purchase?
I came close to switching to Google but got hung up on that point.
Thanks

The reason you setup an account is so you only need one account to purchase on multiple websites, it really saves the consumer time.. B/c w/ most ecommerce sites you are going to have to fill in all your info, and somestimes even register just to make a purchase, also, once you make an account on a site, its normally something you will forget before you make your next purchase, so you have to repeat the tedious process. I am also looking to integrate google checkout to my site, i will probably do some research myself, but i figure it couldnt hurt business. unless there are minimums or monthly fees

But will most consumers recognize the benefit or be turned off by an added step to the process? A report on the most common times potential buyers abandon the checkout process would be a godsend.

Checkout used to be just buynow buttons and the 1 click purchase feature. They just released a full shopping cart.
They did have some pretty good deals if you are a user of checkout AND ad words. I'm not sure if they are still running the deal where you got $ in free processing for every $1 in adwords you spent.
A lot of merchants were using that to cut their processing fees.
Shipwire integrated to Checkout a while back and the integration was pretty easy.

Hi Guys!
Thanks for your input here, and sk8, this must have got bumped down after you dug it up as I didn't see your 3/11 post! Sorry!
So, I signed up, and it is great. It is seemless in terms of moving invoices and data from the Checkout system to .csv and into excel to use in my accounting software program, they are very good at follow up and I found out you get access to help and tips when you sign up...I guess they don't offer a Customer Service feature before sign up to avoid all the questions until you are actually a user.
I would suggest this as a shopping cart, my CTO said integrating and building it into the site was easy and straightforward. There are many features that can help e-commerce & brick and mortar businesses alike.
Thanks guys, appreciate the good posts!
Guy

The free feature is over, it is now $0.20 per transaction and 2% of the sales price.
But as you said the Adwords feature is nice and great for those who use it.
