Ecommerce Staffing

I am currently working on an ecommerce project that is a myspace for the racing industry. that basically it. I choose a market that I am interested in and now I'm running with it. Anyways...when it comes to staffing, should I out source as much as possible or actually constantly have a team on hand.

sure...vertical sn's are interesting..although, some investors think there's no opportunity

your competitors (http://www.cardomain.com/, http://www.boompa.com/, http://www.carspace.com/, http://www.theautolog.com/) all have their webdev inhouse

I'm new at this...what are vertical SN's and i have checked out the majority or the sites and my concept is the same but is going to stand out from those. Better layout, better add on (if you will). I'm trying not to give to much information on it but my concept will definitely out weigh the competition.

Anyways...besides webdev, in your opinion...would it be better to out source to a marketing agency or have a marketing team on hand and other positions

sure...if you've got the cash, outsource to your heart's content...but remember, you're gonna be stuck with these people - and they're not gonna have the patience to put up with your "can you please make this better, I don't like it" sort of requests (unlike inhouse webdev)

overall...I prefer inhouse, for a lot of reasons

the entire process of making a sucessful site is about collecting user feedback and continually adding new features to your product

this only happens when you have an enthusiastic CTO who spends nights and days working on the site for pretty much no salary

this doesn't happen when you outsource

Vertical social networks as those that target a very specific set of users, rather than mass audience.

Regarding outsource/in house it really depends on your budget because in house are going to need paying even if they arent developing a new feature for you in relation to outsourcing when they get paid for creating you a feature.

Personally i belive that in house is better because you need to continually collect user input and add things that relate to this such as improving something or adding a new feature which is why you need a in house develop so you can be with them saying more like this and more like that etc which can only happen via inhouse becuase outsourcing you need to wait for them to develop it to then state the changes which then adds time in getting the new feature/improved feature onto your site.
