Elliot,

First off, congrats on doing something so successful at such a young age! Online commerce and eBay (along with others) allow the opportunity for that. Be thankful.

As for your question, right now there are no legal issues you need to worry about, as long as you stick to eBay. By signing up and registering with eBay, you've agreed to all terms and conditions (whether you read them or not) on their website. If you decide to open up a website to sell you're products, then you've got a different story. Your store on eBay and you buying and selling via that site is fine. No worries there, trust me. Take it from a soon to be lawyer (myself!) and enjoy the money. If you are capable of consistenly finding a market to buy and sell things people want, big props to you because it is difficult. Keep us posted on you're progress and of course...GOOD LUCK!

I know you're a "soon to be lawyer," but are you sure about your response? I would categorize a business license as a legal issue, if it is required in the original poster's jurisdiction. Additionally, there are tax consequences, which I would again categorize as legal issues, at least to some degree. Now, will a small-time seller on eBay likely run into problems? Most likely not. But to advise that "there are no legal issues you need to worry about, as long as you stick to eBay" would be a gross misstatement, don't you think? Haha. Can't fault you too much though. I remember when I first started law school. I was so wrapped up in the world of torts, contracts, property, and civil procedure that I failed to consider such smaller details as local regulations, business licenses, tax implications, etc. Life is an ongoing learning process, something I'm reminded of each and every day.
