Hi all,
I am starting to resell merchandise on ebay. I am currently working with dropshippers but my main goal is to go directly to the manufacturers themselves to get the products. I have a federal tax id and im not yet an LLC even though that is in my plans. My question is do i need a resellers license, and if so what avenue do i take to get that license? All of you answers and input are greatly appreciated!

Well you will be able to buy from some manufacturers.But most manuafacturers wont deal with anyone without a storefront and buying large quantity items. Since you are drop shipping I highly doubt any manufacturers will work with you. You will have to buy from their wholesale distributors if you have a home business.

A fed tax id is a good start. You dont need a biz license with some wholesalers, but I recommend having one.

Having a biz license is more than enough for most cities, but depending on your area, it may difer. Look into what your city requires of you. Most wholesale distributors have a resale form they will make you fill out anyway.

You may need a state tax id (resale or sales and tax) depending on your state and what wholesale distributors you work with. This is something you would have to find out about your state and wholesaler.
