Buying a Website

Hello all. I need to buy a website... I need something with existing traffic. I have my own idea, and whatever they do, I need to integrate it with my own idea, and take their traffic. Obviously, it needs to mesh well with my idea. Where are good places to find existing website with a fair amount of traffic, besides eBay?

Hey Dus10,

I'd say try posting on a Webmaster's Forum... usually a great way to buy something such as an existing site. Cheers

Did you gloss over this?

I have already scoured eBay, and let me tell you, it is a joke. The only reason I want to buy a website is to take over the traffic. I do not need help with design or programming or any of that. I just want to jumpstart the traffic. eBay is full of people selling layouts and designs, that are rather cookie cutter. I just want an established site that has traffic. It does not even need to be making any money, necessarily.

I don't get why you think leftover traffic is going to be of any use to you unless it is a website reaching your exact target market.

What is the target market?

If you're interested, my partner and I created a free ecourse: http://www.truthabouttraffic.com

I would be buying a website that was related to the content of what I am creating. I cannot divulge any info on the target market just yet... I am not very far into the process. It is actually quite in depth... But phase one is to develop the first incarnation of my site. Phase two is to buy a website with related content that has existing traffic. Phase three is to move into a viral marketing campaign. Step four is open a related brick 'n' mortar establishment. And step five is to integrate all efforts into a singular effort.

The main point in buying a website is to jumpstart the traffic. I think it will generate its own traffic just fine, that takes a while, though. This will help to get it off the ground sooner... and maybe I can use the content of the other site as well, in order to give it some history.

Several 'webmaster forums' have sections where you can buy and sell domains or existing websites. Try looking into that....

did you check http://websitebroker.com?

Also.. does it have to have content? or you just need the traffic... cuz if you just need a high ranking name I would check out http://www.sedo.com or http://www.domainspa.com or something and just grab a domain that gets 4 or 5 hundred uniques a day. More than that and yer going to pay big bucks for it.

you could also check :

Thanks. I have looked at sedo.com already. Unfortunately, I have not found any related sites that have a lot of traffic. The highest I found is 47 a month, and they wanted $500 USD.
