What do you lot think is the best software for hosting a shop? By this, I mean things like ShopFacotry, EKMPowershop etc...

I would use the search button. But I like virtuemart. OScommerce wasn't bad but never got updated when I tried it. Probably better by now.

I liked the features of OSCommerce best but it was hard for me to customize. I like my site to be my own- not something you'd recognize as beeing run by a particular program off of one look.

Virtue mart looks like something easier to make fit in with your own designs and ideas.

www.virtuemart.net

all you need is joomla (joomla.com) and then the virtuemart component (virtuemart.net). All is free. It took me about a month to get use to the damn thing.

www.onegreekstore.com is my site.

Go for OsCommerce.

I recommend it to all my customers, because it is so "free" to work with and expandable with all the mods available.

OSCommerce

It's OSCommerce for me to.

It has a massive community, who are also very helpful. There are many design templates available to give your shop the professional look. There also seems to be a contribution for most things that you can think of, making it very flexible.

Any body looking for a shop to be set up, please get in contact.

We are putting together a basic OSCommerce set up package to include a professionally made template from www.web-sites.co.uk (Template Monster Affiliate Site) and set up of the software etc. We will be posting details on a separate thread soon.

I use oscommerce to and it seems good.

BTW: Does anyone know how to get an oscommerce index page like seen here? I've looked through the user contributions but can't find anything
