Slacking Appearance

Being sick has interferred with so much. However, I really missed the mark today. Not feeling well, I really experienced the other side of the spectrum. Today, I wore elastic-waist cotton stretch pants from Speigel, green cotton scope-neck three-quarter length t-shirt and a scarf tied around my head. When I walked into a jewelry store today, I had to wait for service. One of the employees actually walked away and had someone else help me. All I wanted was a battery for my Fossil watch. Trying to be patient, I waited. What was amazing was when I open my mouth, their perception of me changed. I was treated slightly different.
People judge you quickly, in a matter of seconds based on how you look. Your ability to communicate can resurrect your appearance or hang you. Thankfully, I was able to regain respect based on my ability to communicate.
Since going to the medical clinic today, I am taking my medication and must redeem myself tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will look like an image consultant. I have it all planned: orange wrap dress, metallic sandals, and matching jewelry. Have you ever been in a situation where it was obvious you were treated because of how you dressed?
Here's an experiment: Go to a upscale store dressed as if you are going gardening or painting. Note how you are treated. Return to the store dressed as if you are going for an extravagant event. Notice how you are treated. There is a dramatic difference. It doesn't have to be an upscale store. Any interaction with people will do. You will quickly understand the importance of how you look.
