Thank you for this wunderfull post. I see social media as a great way to connect with people that are normally out of reach.
Even though your message has been shared by lot`s of successful entrepreneurs it`s still important to hear it over and over again.

I once tweeted "Sometimes we need to hear the things we already know if we didn`t pay attention to the message in the first place."

I`m gonna share your post on twitter. I believe many people should can benefit from trying your steps.

I always try to get in touch with the best in the industry. Especially with social media in this day and age more and more people are becoming available if you just do your homework.

You'd be surprised who you can personally talk to and get advice from if you just try.

I have surrounded myself with successful and interesting people by switching career fields. I had been working in the world of non-profits, specifically Public Gardens, for years. I decided it was time for a change of pace, and I sought a job at a company that is not quite ordinary. To apply for the job, I had to send in a funny story before I could send in a resume.

When I went to interview, I was struck by the unusual work setup. We are in a warehouse that holds our administrative people, embroidery and printing production, and product warehouse in one building. Everyone constantly moves between each area, collaborating, interacting and staying in touch with the whole business. We don't work in cubes, our desks are lined up like an old-time newsroom. That encourages us to talk to each other.

What amazes me about my current co-workers is how creative they are. Everyone, from Customer Service to IT, to Merchandising, to Marketing, to Production has an interesting backstory, and varied experience. We have graphic artists, fashion designers, airline workers, horticulturists, engineers, yoga instructors and more working at Queensboro. This is not an accident, as the Company President, Fred Meyers said at a recent company pizza lunch. He has specifically built his team from the ground up, seeking to incorporate people with wide perspectives and collaborative spirits into the operation, because it will help us serve our customers better.

Whether you work by yourself, or you are starting a small company, your people are your biggest asset. Choose them carefully.

Great list Even. I really liked the one about going to related business events, I need to do that more often. I would also add "pursuing more experienced business people as mentors" to the list. I've had alot of success with that.
