TechCrunch is looking for 800 “tech-enthused” companies to apply for their Disrupt Pitch-Off, a hip-fire competition pitting the most innovative and ‘disruptive’ tech products in NY. Each team has 60 seconds to sell their ideas in the hopes of strutting their stuff at the Disrupt NY event in late April. Highlights include, “booze, tech talk, pitches, and some good old-fashioned fun.” (New York City, Feb. 12)
5. Boomtown, Bourbon Street: If the latest Super Bowl was any indication, this week’s Mardi Gras festivities will surely be a boon to the Big Easy. One survey suggested that the Super Bowl alone generated $185 million in direct visitor spending on things like lodging and beer. (New Orleans, Feb. 12)
6. Speed dating for startups: The COSE SWAP 34/Power Networking frenzy promises 34 new contacts in 90 minutes in a speed-dating style networking event. You have two minutes to present your idea to judges at one table then move on to the next. I thought speed dating was tough! (Cleveland, Feb. 12)

9. All about 3D printing: If you know anything about 3D printing you’ve heard the name MakerBot Industries.
