So true, and often so overlooked. Same goes for your email address on job applications.
I don’t know how many business owners I’ve met that have a website and do not use that as their e-mail address. I have had to explain to dozens of entrepreneurs that they should be using their domain for their mail server; so many are using aol, hotmail or msn instead of branding themselves by having another opportunity to have their site name in front of their customers – does anyone think aol needs a little more free publicity?
For example, my business name is dotcalm – dotcalm.ws is my website and that’s hard for some people to understand (ws means website – really uncommon but dotcalm.com was taken) so I use StressFreeDesign.com as my site – but I have e-mail addresses of veronika@ off both of them to brand my name and tagline with people.
Can I use this cartoon in my newsletter for http://www.mvbwn.org?
Thanks,
Veronika
I too, agree. This is so true. Even as a student, having a professional email is important when introducing yourself to potential employers and colleagues.
Thanks for sharing!
Seriously! And it always amazes me how folks don’t understand the importance (especially in the area of brand management and corporate identity) of your signature, too!
Hit the nail right on the head, trying to get people to see that they make a bad impression by having a personalized email rather than a business email is hard work as well. Nothing more frustrating that driving along and seeing an email address on a company van saying bazza2345@hotmail.com.
Your blog has some great information for small businesses. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!
Great weblog here! Additionally your site loads up fast! What host are you using? Can I am getting your affiliate link for your host? I want my site loaded up as fast as yours lol
