Setting preferences is quite a hassle and at times it doesn't work. Facebook is perfect for getting noticed, popular, all that and is absolutely a great tool for marketing. I do not recommend Facebook for private kinds of persons. I wrote an article for my friends about using Facebook with a view towards safety and privacy. My section on application settings, including screen captures, was 19 pages long. I think that more should be said about the risk to privacy by Facebook applications. I tried to understand the degree of privacy one can gain from applications through the settings.
