Hey, nice post. I just wanted to update this post by telling u about a new keyword targeted advertising service for twitter. Its called Twtbuck and an advertiser say a young entrepreneur can advertise on twitter for as low as $.01.

But with all the third party apps people are using to interface with Twitter, fewer and fewer people will ever see your actual Twitter profile. I wonder if that will become less effective over time.

Also, is anything clickable in the background? seems counter-intuitive for web advertising.

I've used Twitad on occasion and had a good experience with it. Selling your Twitter background is less intrusive, as it only affects those followers who choose to view my background, and I think a more respectful way to monetize Twitter rather than pushing tweets out to my followers with advertisements - which I just won't do.

Thanks,
Matt

I signed up for this advertising. However, everytime I try to post an ad I get an error that says you can only post to 50+ followers.
My personal following is over 100. No response to email sent to company. I hate to delete the account without ever getting to try it.
Yes, just a bit frustrating!

I like the opt-in approach. Twittad has a good program, so does BeTweeted. If you pick the content you're sharing, it's much less impersonal and much less spammy. The Auto-inserting ads like magpie are out of the question for me.

Great article, explaining what two ad companies are doing with Twitter. Plus, showing how potentially profitable your Twitter Brand will be with the more followrs you have.
