This is a great video that I think speaks to the true nature of people. It follows the story of the “tweenbot”, an experimental robot created by Tisch School of the Arts student Kacie Kinzer.
Here is what Kacie had to say about the project:
I wondered: could a human-like object traverse sidewalks and streets along with us, and in so doing, create a narrative about our relationship to space and our willingness to interact with what we find in it? More importantly, how could our actions be seen within a larger context of human connection that emerges from the complexity of the city itself? To answer these questions, I built robots.
I hope you enjoy and would love your comments!
Would you help the tweenbot along if you saw it on the street?

That is an awesome video! I liked how everyone stopped what they were doing and helped it. Really shows that little actions can go a long way. Keep up the good work!
Altruism. These people help the robot with no self gain. While this is at the core of human race, it is interesting to see it happen before our very eyes. I often hear about big acts of generosity (Buffet, Gates, donations, etc.) but I think this is some small act of help – not out of pity but litterally curiosity and helping the science – which I don’t often see. There are many analogies to this little video (people writting reviews on products? people cheering those struggling at sport events?) and overall I liked seeing people nicely helping. On a separate note, the music was fantastic with a perfect fit to the visuals. Thanks for sharing, Jim
