SEO Advice – SkinB5

It’s time for another SEO Advice post! Last week, I offered free SEO advice to All You Need Business Services. I’m going to continue my SEO Advice series today by helping out another YoungEntrepreneur.com blog reader Judy Cheung, from SkinB5. We are going to focus today on increasing conversions instead of the usual SEO, however.

SkinB5 – www.skinb5.com

Dear Evan,

I have a seriously burning question! We have been doing many different things to improve rate of conversion with no success. What can I do, I am pulling my hair out and running out of ideas, HELP !!

Just sharing below stats with you. (Judy shared some stats showing that many people hit her home page but don’t end up going beyond the home page to the order page or any other inside page) Does it mean most people don’t visit beyond our home page???? If so why? I look forward to your expert advice!

warm regards,

Judy Cheung

My Recommendations

1) Where is your traffic coming from?

Not all traffic is created equally. What are the sources of your traffic? Are they coming from search engines or social media sites, for example. I’ve always had the best conversions from search engine traffic because people are specifically looking for something so they are more interested in finding a solution. Traffic from partner websites generally do not convert as well because people come more out of curiosity then looking for a specific answer. Social media sites generally generate the least number of conversions. If you’re not getting enough traffic from search engines, consider improving your SEO efforts to rank in Google.

2) Use Better Pictures

Personal health products like acne cures and weight loss solutions are sold most often due to the pictures and testimonials. On the homepage you have two pictures (before and after) of Nick Bell. The concept is great but the pictures are hard to see. It’s difficult to tell that there has been a big improvement and the second picture looks blurry and photoshopped. If people question the authenticity of the photos then they won’t click through to buy your product. It’s also of Nick Bell, who is the co-founder of the company. I would look at using ordinary people who have great stories and great pictures instead of the company’s co-founder. I would also suggest putting more pictures on the homepage instead of just Nick’s. The stories and the testimonials will help sell the product and encourage click throughs.

3) Change Order’ to ‘Learn More’

For each product you show one paragraph of text and a list of benefits. Because you’re not yet a household name it’s going to take more information to convince someone to order your product. I wouldn’t order a product which I’ve never heard of based on the information you’ve provided. Try changing the Order button to Learn More which drives people to another page that explains more about the product, shows how and why it works, and includes testimonials and success stories. People will be more willing to click through on a learn more page than an order page.

Good luck Judy!

Wonderful ideas. I have to agree that pictures help out tremendously!

Thank you soooo much Evan! Great suggestions!! Best timing as well as we are revamping for launch of new products.

    Fantasic, This is so handy!

  4. Good ideas!

I think they’ll also do well to remove the HUGE “Free Shipping on orders over $99″ banner on the right side. Although the banner is meant to convey an incentive to the user, I feel that the big bold “$99″ lettering might be giving the user impression that their products are expensive. And once the user has that impression, it’ll be pretty hard to convince them to go forward, especially if the only available link is “Order Now”

    Cheers!

I think YoungEntrepreneur is doing a great job motivating the young people of today to think outside of the box when it comes to marketing and SEO advice!

I just wanted to comment and say that both Google and Yahoo have recently revamped their Local Business Search services which makes it easy to add your business into their Local Search results. More importantly, its FREE and quite effective. Unless you’re a “purely” internet-only business, statistics show that almost 80% of customers will come from within 80 miles of your place of business.

    hi there,
just stumbled across this on the net,but really cant help but say that companies like skinb5 arent going to do very well because the products dont actually work!
The website is obviously showing the product to be a nonsense gimmick, not actualy a good, working product that will help acne sufferers.

When searching the web,all that is found are fake reviews set up by skinb5,consumers can see this! We arent stupid!

The bottom line is that,if the product works,it will sell it self.If it doesnt work and proves to be another cruel way to make money from acne sufferers, then it wont make money.

Acne suffers of the world know that skinb5 is a gimmick and dont and will not buy it.There will obviously be people who are desparate and will give the product a trial through despair and desparation, but when they notice that is is a sham they will not buy again and will not recommend the product.

i know all of this because i am an acne sufferer and if any body knows how to please the consumer,it is the consumer themselves!

I think that people and associates who wish to make real money and success should bare this in mind. There are billions of acne sufferers worldwide. Many companies claiming to rid them of acne;but most importantly-there is not yet a company that has created a REAL solution to acne.It can be done,it would take time and money to discover but should a new treatment that is actually successful be created…the creator will have money in an inexhaustible supply, because acne suffers are in inexhaustible supply. The more you cure, the more customers and ultimately more money.

A scam will bring you nothing.

  7. I agree, pictures definitely help the “Look & Feel” of a website … and “Learn More” always sounds more inviting than the old “BUY NOW” salesman pitch.

  8. Jerry S says:

Some of the best products I’ve used I found on the web, and SkinB5 was no exception. As an acne sufferer for 7 years, I used everything and the only thing that worked was SkinB5.

So please don’t look down on products that are sold on the web until you’ve tried them, because there are some great ones out there you just have to find them!

  9. S says:

SkinB5 is excellent, I take it every day and have perfect skin :)

  10. Pokies says:

I’ve tried a couple of these tips and they have worked wonders for the conversion rate of my website.
    Thanks,
    Pokies

  11. Some good points, its often difficult to determine what aspects of an ecommerce site are letting it down. SEO is powerful but its just as if not more important to focus on your end users and what they would want to see/read.
