There is a balance that an entrepreneur must look at seriously when looking at any opportunity, but is considering a franchise. The appeal of the "ready and proven model" of a franchise, must be weighed against the greater freedom of your own venture. That VS The loss of some freedom to do what you wish with a franchise, and the "Unproven and risky" situation with your own start-up.

As an MBA candidate I feel that the most important aspect for the franchisee to understand is that they respresent the whole company. If they do not hold themselves and their business to high standards the reputation of the company as a whole will suffer. And as we all know a bad reputation means low profits. Perception is everything in business.
