If you ever want to read a reader's feedback :) , I rate this post for 4/5. Decent info, but I just have to go to that damn msn to find the missed pieces. Thanks, anyway!

Evan:
Excellent suggestions on the use of LinkedIn for business. I teach LinkedIn classes for the novice and the more experienced users. I have a "Jump Starting LinkedIn" class for beginners and then targeted courses for executives in transition, sales reps and consultants, professional and corporate recruiters, as well as SMB business owners or general managers in larger businesses. I conduct these classes in person or in Webinar form. You can download a PDF describing these courses in more detail in the websites portion of my profile. See http://linkedin.com/in/edcallahansprofile.

A quick tip to complement those given by Evan above. Use the status widget (which you can edit on your home page or in your profile) to let your trusted network (1st degree connections) know what you are doing. It appears on the home page of your 1st degree connections for about three days.

For example I am going to post that "I am replying to a LinkedIn post in www.youngentrepreneur.com/blog".

This is great. I am connected to LinkedIn but I honestly never knew what it was doing for me. I have some work to do with it now that I understand the concept better. Thanks!

I couldn't agree more that LinkedIn should be used more often, especially Answers.

I was able to get great suggestions on technology to use to serve ads on our website and landed an interview for a book by answering a question.

Most recently, we managed to secure a relationship with a strategic advisory firm to help us raise capital by posting a question on LinkedIn answers.

Social networks are tools that can be used in many ways.
